Growing Transit Options

The City of New Braunfels benefits from growing mobility options. Our community is served by Alamo Regional Transit on-demand service, as well as the Alamo Commutes trip planning and carpool app. The 2021 New Braunfels Transit Study presents an assessment of future transit options. These resources can be accessed in the links below.

Alamo Regional Transit (ART) is operated by the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG). ART next-day pickup service can take you to medical appointments, work, school, shopping, and more.

Fares start at $2 for in-town trips and increase to maximum $12 for out-of-county destinations. Schedule a ride by calling 1-866-889-7433.

Alamo Commutes is a smart commuting program offered through the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). It extends to counties in the San Antonio area and includes Comal, Guadalupe, and part of Kendall.  When you create an account, you can:

  • Log your weekly commute and recreational trips
  • Earn rewards for “green” trips like walking, biking, and telecommuting
  • Find a carpool match
  • Get an emergency ride home

The City of New Braunfels completed a Public Transit Study in June 2021. The Alamo Area MPO contracted with KFH Group to conduct this fixed-route transit study for the City.

This effort gathered community and stakeholder input to identify unmet transportation needs and propose strategies to develop and expand transit alternatives.
