How do I get a New Braunfels Public Library card?

Any resident with a New Braunfels address (now including all 78130 and 78132 addresses) can obtain a free library card. To obtain a library card, please come to the library with a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license) and proof of residence, and library staff will direct you to our self-signup station.

You can also apply for a library card online here — click "Sign Up" in the upper righthand corner and fill out the form. You can apply for a card with full borrowing privileges by uploading a document such as your driver’s license; otherwise, you will receive an Internet card for access to eResources.

Additionally:

  • Those who live outside of city limits may obtain a non-resident card for $25 per year.
  • School-age children who live outside of the city limits are eligible for non-resident student card for $10 per year.
  • Part-time residents may obtain a half-year card for $15.
