I am a new customer, how do I start service?
If you live within New Braunfels' city limits call (830) 221-4040 to establish new service. Once your request has been verified, your new carts will be delivered.

How often will my trash and recycling be picked up at my curb?
The City provides a once-a-week service for your garbage and recycling carts. Green Waste is also picked up once-a-week.

Where should I put my cart for service?
To ensure service, roll your cart to the street and place it with wheels against the curb by 6:30 a.m. on your designated collection day. Keep your cart five feet away from any obstacles including your mailbox.

How do I get rid of items that will not fit in the garbage cart?
The city offers a couple of different options for your to dispose of bulky items and excess garbage. Visit

How can I get an additional garbage or recycling cart?
Customers may receive an additional recycling cart at no additional cost. Additional garbage carts are available for a monthly fee of $6.50 with a $10.00 administrative fee. Additional carts can be ordered by calling (830) 221-4040.

How do I get rid of chemicals like household cleaners, paint, or pesticides?

Where can I find the local recycling drop-off location?
Our local City Recycling Center is located at 488 S Castell Ave that will accept a wide range of recyclable material. Check out the

How do I report that my garbage or recycling was not picked up?
If for some reason your cart was missed, please call us at (830) 221-4040.
11.
What if the cart is too big for me to roll to the curb?
The carts are constructed and balanced so that most people can easily move a full cart to the curb. If you need to switch to a different size, the city offers a 48-gallon cart.

What is the cost for a smaller cart?
The monthly charge is the same regardless of the size of cart.

What if I am physically unable to roll out my cart?
The City has a Special Roll-out Service available for residents who are physically unable to roll their carts for collection. Call (830) 221-4040 for eligibility process.
14.
How do I know which cart belongs to me?
Every cart has a serial number which is assigned to your address. Call (830) 221-4040 to get your serial numbers for your carts.
15.
Can I place plastic caps from plastic drinks bottles in the recycling cart?
Yes, caps are accepted if screwed onto the bottle it belongs to. They are more likely to be recycled if re-attached. Do not leave loose in your recycling cart.
