The City of New Braunfels is reorganizing the schedule used by City Council to appoint new members to the 31 boards and commissions that advise them on a variety of topics.
Under the current system, City Council appoints members to those committees at various times throughout the year. Under the revised system, City Council will appoint members twice a year, with a slate of appointments in the Spring and another in the Fall. Appointments under the Spring term will end on May 31st of each year, with the new appointment beginning on June 1st. Appointments under the Fall term will end November 30th each year, with the new appointment beginning on December 1st.
“The realignment of the schedule for appointing members to City Council’s Boards and Commissions is designed to be more efficient administratively,” said City Secretary Caitlin Krobot. “The new process will make it much easier for our staff to communicate to the community when there are openings available on the various boards and commissions and gives us the opportunity to advertise those opportunities more effectively.”
Some boards and commissions will not see any changes to their appointment schedule, including the Planning Commission, the Ethics Commissions, and the Transportation and Traffic Advisory Board. Here is the full schedule for the Spring and Fall appointments under the newly realigned system:
