On today’s date (07-02-21), at approximately 3:15pm, the New Braunfels Police Department and the New Braunfels Fire Department were called to the area of the New Braunfels Tube Chute on the Comal River for a report of a man who had gone under the water and did not immediately resurface.
Officers and paramedics arrived to find that lifeguards and citizens had pulled the man from the water and lifeguards performed CPR on the man until paramedics arrived on scene. The man was then transported to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels where he was later pronounced deceased. He has since been identified as 62-year old Albert L. Aranda from Farmington, New Mexico. Next of kin has been notified. Justice of the Peace for Pct. 3 Mike Rust has ordered an autopsy.
Pending the results of the autopsy, the man’s death is being investigated as an accidental drowning.
