Due to continued winter weather conditions on local roadways, City of New Braunfels facilities will be closed on Tuesday (Feb. 16, 2021).
Driving conditions in and around New Braunfels remain unsafe and everyone is asked to avoid driving if at all possible. For those that must be out on local roads, please do so with extreme caution. Avoid roads with bridges, overpasses, elevated surfaces, or those that are seldom used. Do not drive around barricades and please slow down.
Facility Closures
City facility closures for Tuesday include New Braunfels City Hall, Das Rec, the New Braunfels Public Library, Parks & Recreation administrative offices, the Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs, the Fischer Park Nature Center, the Municipal Annex, the City Recycle Center, and the Westside Community Center.
Trash & Recycling Collection
The city’s Solid Waste and Recycling Division is suspending residential and commercial collection on Tuesday. That means that the schedule for residential trash, recycling, green waste, and commercial trash will be amended by pushing normal collection days back by two days. For example, if your normal collection day is Monday then your collection day this week is Wednesday. Tuesday collections will happen on Thursday. Wednesday collections will happen on Friday. And Thursday collections will happen on Saturday. Regular collection schedules will resume next week, weather permitting.
City officials will be closely monitoring weather conditions over the next several days. Forecasters with the National Weather service are predicting temperatures will remain below freezing for the next 24 to 48 hours with the potential for additional freezing precipitation. Those conditions may prompt continuing or additional closures. Please remain weather aware, watch the forecast for updates, and expect rapidly changing conditions, especially on roadways. Remember the 4 P's: People, Pets, Pipes, and Plants. Bring your pets and plants indoors, check on family and neighbors to make sure they are taking precautions, and wrap any exposed outdoor pipes to protect them from the cold.
