The City of New Braunfels has announced an overall increase of approximately $134,500 or 6.6% in sales taxes received in December (for the month of October) compared to the same month last year. When the various adjustments to the monthly payment are removed, net October sales tax collections increased by approximately 7.9%.
“With the release of the October figures, sales taxes are off to a great start for FY 2021 said Jared Werner, Chief Financial Officer. “Similar to September, the October data once again showed growth in several areas that have been negatively impacted since the onset of the pandemic, such as full-service restaurants. However, the majority of the growth continues to come from other sectors such as building materials stores, grocery stores, manufacturing and non-store retailers (online sales).”
