A joint project between the City of New Braunfels and New Braunfels Utilities to replace water and sewer lines along a portion of West San Antonio Street, as well as rehabilitation of the roadway, begins next week.
The project, which spans from Krueger Ave. to Spur St., will be broken into three phases, with each phase requiring the closure of a portion of West San Antonio Street.
Phase 1 begins on Monday, May 18th, with the contractor, Pesado Construction out of Schertz, focusing on the section of W. San Antonio St. between Krueger Ave. and West End Ave. That section of roadway will be closed for approximately 3 to 5 months, with a detour taking traffic over to Katy St. in order to get around the construction zone (see attached map), so that the contractors can replace the water and sanitary sewer lines, as well as a complete rehabilitation of the roadway in that area.
Phase 2 of the project will focus on the section of W. San Antonio St. between West End Ave. and Hidalgo Ave.
Phase 3 of the project will focus on the section of W. San Antonio St. between Hidalgo Ave. and Spur St.
The entire project is expected to last approximately a year and a half, weather permitting. The city’s portion of this joint project with NBU is $2.4 million and is funded from monies approved by voters in the 2013 and 2019 bond elections.
