The City of New Braunfels is dedicated to continuing core services, like solid waste, that contribute significantly to the safety and health of our community during the on-going COVID-19 response.
Furthermore, the City is grateful for the continued dedication of its solid waste and recycling employees as they maintain this essential service.
The City Solid Waste and Recycling division is taking precautions to reduce the spread of Coronavirus to residents and staff by temporarily suspending two services - Bulk and Brush, and Green Waste.
After Tuesday, March 31, additional bulk and brush call-in appointments will not be scheduled until further notice.
Green Waste collection services will be temporarily suspended after April 2. This suspension increases the safety of manual collection workers and sustains the collection of garbage at a normal level of service despite an anticipated reduction in staff.
At this time, curbside residential garbage and recycling routes will remain on a regular schedule, as will commercial garbage collection.
The City Recycle Center at 488 South Castell Avenue will remain open and operate during its regular hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. As a social distancing measure, the City requests visitors to the Center remain in their vehicle at all times, allowing attendants to unload materials brought for drop-off or distribute Green Waste bags. Residents should transport items to the Center in a truck bed or the trunk of a passenger vehicle. If any potential Center visitor feels sick, or thinks they may be sick, the City asks that they please refrain from coming to the Center as part of the effort to reduce community spread.
