Fresh fruits and vegetables will be the focus of the Farmers Market Nutrition Program scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at the Westside Community Center, located at 2932 S. IH-35 Frontage Rd.
Although Westside Community Center’s inside facility will be closed next week for HVAC installations, their partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank’s farmer’s market program will continue outside.
WIC participants are eligible to receive a one-time $30 Farmers Market voucher book per qualifying child, reminder to bring your WIC shopping lists. In addition, qualifying seniors (60+) can receive a $20 coupon book. There are income guidelines connected to the voucher program, so please call the WCC Office at 830-221-4630 for more information. Applications and coupon books will be distributed the day of the event by San Antonio Food Bank staff members. This is a once a year benefit for qualifying WIC participants and qualifying seniors.
“The New Braunfels Food Bank plays such an important role in our town, and the Farmers Market—which is a great outreach and is also open to the public—is a great way to see them in action.”
The participating farmers will accept check, debit, cash and lone star cards.
A second Farmers Market will be held at the Westside Community Center on June 19.
