On April 28, 2019 at approximately 3:07 AM the New Braunfels Police Department and the New Braunfels Fire Department responded to the 2500 block of IH 35 S., in the northbound lanes, regarding a motor vehicle accident involving 3 vehicles.
A 2015 Nissan Sentra, driven by a 23-year-old New Braunfels man, was traveling in the center lane at a high rate of speed and struck the rear of a 1997 Dodge Van that was also travelling in the center lane. The driver of the Dodge was a 46-year-old woman from Kentucky. The Nissan was disabled in the center lane as a result of the collision with the Dodge. The Nissan was then struck by a 1994 Ford F150, driven by a 50-year-old New Braunfels man.
The driver of the Nissan was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center by ground in critical condition. The driver of the Dodge and her 2 passengers, a 46-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, both from Kentucky, were transported to Resolute hospital in New Braunfels with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford was not injured.
The northbound lanes of IH 35 were shutdown at the FM1044 exit for approximately 3 ½ hours.
This incident is still under investigation by the New Braunfels Police Department.
