On today’s date (04-23-19) at approximately 3:25pm, the New Braunfels Police Department was called to the 300 block of Landa Street for a report of shots being fired.
Eyewitnesses at the scene told officers that two vehicles, a white pickup truck and a white passenger car, were involved in a parking lot/road rage incident where neither vehicle would move for the other. An occupant of the pickup truck then exited the vehicle, approached the car, and began assaulting the driver. The driver of the passenger car then accelerated forward and rammed the front end of the pickup truck.
Meanwhile, another male in a third vehicle watching this unfold, exited his vehicle while brandishing a handgun and fired a number of shots at the pickup truck. The pickup truck then fled the scene, while the third man entered his vehicle and also fled the location in a separate direction. The pickup truck has since been located and, as of this release, no injuries have been reported. The investigation into the incident continues. The incident did prompt a brief “shelter in place” order for patrons and employees of Das Rec, a nearby recreation center, but that has since been lifted.
Investigators have also been able to identify the suspect that fired the handgun in the incident and officers are actively looking for him. He was last seen driving a white 4-door Nissan Versa with tinted windows bearing Texas license plate LBN-2408. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of that vehicle should call 911 immediately.
