On Tuesday, February 19th at 5:00 p.m., the public is invited to a celebration marking the Recorded Texas Historic Landmark designation of the circa 1918 Fire Station at 131 S. Hill Avenue.
This first New Braunfels City Fire Station is receiving a new marker designating the building as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. The Recorded Texas Historic Landmark designation is the highest level of recognition and commemoration for historic structures available through the State of Texas.
Of the over 16,000 Official State Historic Markers in Texas, only 3,800 are designated as Recorded Texas Historic Landmarks. To be eligible to receive this designation, the subject building must be both historically and architecturally significant.
The 1918 Fire Station is an excellent example of classically influenced government architecture and is one of the few remaining municipal buildings designed by prolific Texas architect Leo Dielmann. The official marker dedication will take place during the ceremony and refreshments will provided.
