UPDATE: The suspect in Wednesday’s fatal Hit & Run crash that killed 39-year old New Braunfels resident Amber Williams has been taken into custody.
On today’s date (11-23-18) at approximately 10:30am, 26-year old Austin Taylor Meade of North Las Vegas, Nevada, was taken into custody without incident when he turned himself in to the Austin Police Department.
Following Wednesday’s fatal crash, a warrant for Meade’s arrest was issued, charging him with 1st degree Felony Murder. Bond was set at $1,000,000 and he is currently being held in Travis County awaiting transfer back to Comal County.
The investigation into Wednesday’s fatal crash, and the aggravated robbery that followed, remains under investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
The New Braunfels Police Department would like to praise the teamwork exhibited by officers and investigators from numerous local, regional, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to include the US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, the Austin Police Department, Texas DPS, the San Antonio FBI office, and the Henderson, Nevada Police Department.
