As of Monday, October 29, 2018, the New Braunfels Police Department will resume daily operations at its main headquarters located at 1488 South Seguin Avenue. All police functions, including Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Records, Dispatch, and Administration will resume daily operations at that location as of 8am Monday (10/29/18).
This return to NBPD Headquarters ends the more than 1-year long temporary relocation of the department to New Braunfels City Hall following roof and water damage sustained at the Seguin Avenue location during Hurricane Harvey. Steps have been taken to ensure that at no time will citizens notice an interruption to the day-to-day operations of the Police Department.
The relocation will be complete as of 8am Monday, and business hours will remain 8am to 5pm. All phone numbers and email addresses for Police Department personnel remain the same, including the main non-emergency number: 830-221-4100. All mail, deliveries, in-person meetings, and other police-related business will once again be conducted at 1488 South Seguin Avenue. The only exception is the NBPD Training Unit, which will continue to be housed at the Fire Department’s training facility on South Castell Avenue (the old City Hall building) until the start of 2019.
The South Seguin Avenue building became NBPD Headquarters when it was converted from a lumberyard in 1998, making it only the fourth NBPD location since the department’s inception in 1930. On Sept. 11, 2017, New Braunfels City Hall became NBPD’s fifth home, albeit temporarily. NBPD would like to sincerely thank our fellow City of New Braunfels employees, many of whom graciously gave up their own offices for NBPD personnel over the last year. The challenges that were solved during this relocation are a demonstration of the teamwork exhibited by city employees every day. NBPD also appreciates the patience of residents who had to adjust their interactions with our department while these repairs were made.
The New Braunfels Police Department is looking forward to a smooth transition back to daily operations at 1488 South Seguin Avenue.
