On today’s date (04/04/18), at approximately 8:35am, the New Braunfels Police Department received a report of a juvenile male who had threatened a juvenile female with a firearm over a social media platform.
Investigating officers were able to determine the identity of the student in question, a 16-year old male that attends New Braunfels High School. After pulling the student from class at NBHS, officers were able to determine that the student did have a firearm in the glovebox of his vehicle, which was located in the high school parking lot. The handgun was located and seized without incident. Investigators determined that although the original victim had been threatened with the handgun, at no point was a threat made against the campus or its students.
The student was detained, processed, and taken to the Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center where he is charged with Terroristic Threat (a Class B Misdemeanor).
Although the incident had little to do with the NBHS, campus and NBISD administrators are issuing a statement to parents of NBHS students. NBPD would like to praise the quick reporting of this threat by the victim and the quick actions of administrators at New Braunfels High School to help locate the suspect quickly and without incident or injury.
