City-Provided Green Waste Bags Delayed

The paper bags that the City of New Braunfels provides for Green Waste collection service will be temporarily unavailable at all pick-up locations.

Green Waste is the residential curbside collection of leaves and plant trimmings that are placed in bags or bundles (tied with rope or twine), each bag or bundle weighing no more than 40 pounds. The locations affected include:

City Recycle Center - 488 S Castell Avenue

                     City Library - 700 E Common Street

McKenna Gym - 801 W San Antonio Street

New Braunfels City Hall – 550 Landa Street

City Municipal Building – 424 S Castell Avenue

NBU Main Office - 263 Main Plaza

Landa Rec Center – 164 Landa Park Drive

The City’s bag printing vendor is experiencing high volumes and has delayed the City’s most recent order of Green Waste bags.  Availability of City-provided Green Waste bags is expected to resume at the beginning of March.

Residents that require bags for Green Waste material in the interim can purchase similar bags at several local retailers, including home improvement stores. Acceptable bags for Green Waste collection are usually well-marked as “lawn and leaf” bags.  To be picked up, bags must be made of biodegradable Kraft paper and be the approximately 30-gallon size.  No plastic bags are acceptable.
