On October 29th, 2017 at approximately 23:56 hours, units from the New Braunfels Police Department and New Braunfels Fire Department responded to the 1300 block of Saur Ln, in reference to a major motor vehicle crash involving a rollover.
Upon arrival Officers observed a white in color 2008 Acura TL with extensive damage upside down on the grass next to the roadway. Due to the crash, debris was scattered across both lanes and both ditches along the roadway. Officers contacted a 19 female with minor injuries who was a passenger in the vehicle. She stated that the driver had been ejected and she did not know where he was. Officers and medics started searching the immediate area and located the driver on the opposite side of the road, deceased. The driver was identified as 18yr old Felix Salazar of New Braunfels. Next was kin has been notified.
Investigation revealed that the Acura was traveling southbound on Saur Ln at a very high rate of speed and went air-born after going through a low water crossing. The vehicle then lost control, and crashed into the tree and fence line on the left side of the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll end over end multiple times. The vehicle came to a stop upside down on the right side of the roadway.
NBPD Traffic Unit responded and is investigating the crash. No charges are expected to be filed.
