A suspect in the January 25th, 2017, bank robbery in New Braunfels has been apprehended and taken into custody.
A suspect in the January 25th, 2017, bank robbery in New Braunfels has been apprehended and taken into custody.
The robbery of First Commercial Bank in the 1500 block of South Seguin Ave. in New Braunfels appeared to have been committed by the same man responsible for the robbery of the Schertz Bank and Trust on January 20th. Using evidence obtained during the investigation into both of those robberies, detectives with the New Braunfels Police Department worked in conjunction with the Texas Rangers and detectives from the Schertz Police Department to develop a suspect, and to draft arrest warrants.
On today’s date (Feb. 1, 2017), at approximately 1pm, officers with the Texas Rangers, the New Braunfels
Police Department, the Schertz Police Department, and the FBI Central Texas Violent Crimes Task Force
served those warrants in Travis County and apprehended 35-year old Reness Leonce Broussard of
Georgetown. Broussard was taken to the Travis County Jail and booked on bank robbery charges for the
robbery committed in New Braunfels and the Schertz bank robbery. Bond is currently set at $400,000
($100,000 for the New Braunfels robbery and $300,000 for the Schertz robbery).
Broussard currently remains in custody in Travis County.
