UPDATE: The investigation into the shooting of a 33-year old man on 8-10-16 in the 600 block of Cherokee Boulevard is ongoing. The case remains an open and active investigation as NBPD detectives continue to collect evidence and interview those involved in the incident. The victim remains hospitalized at SAMMC in critical condition and is currently unable to speak with investigators. NBPD has been able to identify the person who fired the weapon, a 44-year old male from New Braunfels, and he has been cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. Investigators believe that the two men involved did not know each other prior to the shooting; however, they did live on the same street and they had a brief verbal altercation before the single shot was fired. ORIGINAL RELEASE: On today’s date (08-10-16), at approximately 8:00pm, the New Braunfels Police Department and the New Braunfels Fire Department were dispatched to the 600 block of Cherokee Boulevard for a report of a gunshot victim.
Officers arrived to find that an argument between neighbors had led to a single gunshot being fired from a handgun, with one victim, a 33-year old male from New Braunfels, suffering a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. New Braunfels EMS transported the victim by ground to the San Antonio Military Medical Center in serious condition.
As of this release, the scene of the shooting is no longer an active crime scene and there is no danger to the public. New Braunfels Police Department detectives are currently interviewing those involved in the incident and the case remains an ongoing investigation.
