On August 1, 2016, at approximately 9:45pm, the New Braunfels Police Department was called to the Garden Inn of New Braunfels hotel in the 1000 block of Business I-35 North for reports of a stabbing. Officers arrived and found two victims, a 19-year old male from New Braunfels and an 18-year old male from New Braunfels, both with non-life threatening laceration wounds. Further investigation revealed that three people had entered the men’s hotel room, assaulted them, taken cash and drugs, and then fled the scene. A search of the area was unsuccessful in locating the suspects, but the victims were able to give officers descriptions of the suspects, including their names. One of the two victims was transported to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital New Braunfels and was treated and released.
On August 2, 2016, at approximately 8:45am, the New Braunfels Police Department was called to a residence in the 800 block of Conrads Lane for a report of Criminal Trespass in Progress. Officers arrived to find three people who had entered an unlocked residence and had decided to use the house as a place to sleep. All three matched the descriptions of the suspects from the robbery the night before. All three were taken into custody on the Criminal Trespass charge, transported to NBPD Headquarters for questioning, and all three were later booked at the Comal County Jail on the following charges:
17-year old Madison Michelle Monceballez of New Braunfels was charged with Aggravated Robbery, Possession of a Controlled Substance (PG 1 - <1g – Methamphetamine), and Criminal Trespass. As of this release, bond had been set at $52,000 and she remains in custody.
22-year old Richard Edward Jones III of Canyon Lake was charged with Aggravated Robbery and Criminal Trespass. As of this release, bond had been set at $52,000 and he remains in custody.
23-year old Cody Wayne Cummins of New Braunfels was charged with Aggravated Robbery and Criminal Trespass. As of this release, bond had been set at $102,000 and he remains in custody.
Further charges may be pending and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
