The City of New Braunfels has announced the selection of Ruy Lozano as the new Fire Chief for the New Braunfels Fire Department.
Lozano’s selection comes following a nationwide search by the City, assisted by Strategic Government Resources (SGR), an executive recruitment firm based in Keller, Texas. A field of 34 candidates was narrowed down to two finalists who visited New Braunfels for in-person interviews as well as tours of the community and meetings with Fire Department and other City staff.
“We were impressed with the qualifications and experience of both candidates, but after careful review, Lozano was selected as the best person to lead the New Braunfels Fire Department,” said New Braunfels City Manager Robert Camareno. “The Fire Department has a lot of growth already in the works with two new fire stations coming online this year alone, and we are looking forward to having Lozano lead the Fire Department during this exciting time.”
Ruy Lozano has 25 years of experience in a large metropolitan fire department and has served the department in variety of ways including public relations and budget management. He has spent his career with the Houston Fire Department beginning in 1996 and is currently serving as an Assistant Fire Chief. Lozano has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, a Masters of Business Administration, and is a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He is also a Texas Commission on Fire Protection Master Firefighter and Fire Instructor, and is a Center of Public Safety Excellence Peer Assessor.
“I am honored to have been selected as Fire Chief for the New Braunfels Fire Department,” said Fire Chief Ruy Lozano. “I am excited to be a part of the City’s prospering future, while protecting New Braunfels as a national treasure.”
