WHO SHOULD GET TESTED?
- The following people should get tested for COVID-19:
- People who have symptoms of COVID-19.
- People who have come into close contact with someone with COVID-19 should be tested to check for infection:
- Fully vaccinated people should be tested 5–7 days after their last exposure.
- People who are not fully vaccinated should get tested immediately when they find out they are a close contact. If their test result is negative, they should get tested again 5–7 days after their last exposure or immediately if symptoms develop.
- People not fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine who are prioritized for expanded community screening for COVID-19.
- People not fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine who have been asked or referred to get testing by their school, workplace, healthcare provider, state, tribal, local, or territorial health department.
WHO SHOULD NOT GET TESTED?
The following people who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 do not need to get tested if they do not have COVID-19 symptoms:
- People who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 3 months and recovered, as long as they do not develop new symptoms, do not need to get tested.

CVS Health is offering lab testing for COVID-19 - limited appointments now available to patients who qualify
Walgreens Contactless Testing
Walgreens is offering no-cost, contactless COVID-19 testing for patients age 3 and up at select locations in partnership with the PWNHealth provider network.
Texas MedClinic
We encourage ALL PATIENTS SEEKING COVID 19 TESTING to Check-in Online before arriving at our clinics. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, you must check-in online to be seen by a provider. We are still able to see urgent medical problems on a walk-in basis.
Statewide Testing Options
COVID testing is available at local health centers, clinics, and select pharmacies, often at no-cost. Please always call ahead to verify eligibility, insurance coverage, or make an appointment as necessary.
Comal County Public Health Department is administering Moderna & Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines. Those interested in receiving a vaccine can call 830-221-1150 to schedule an appointment. Additionally, most local pharmacies offer vaccinations at no charge as well.
ADULTS 18+
- COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective.
- Everyone 12 years of age and older is now eligible to get a free COVID-19 vaccination.

CHILDREN AGES 5-18
CDC recommends everyone ages 5 and older get a COVID-19 vaccine to help protect against COVID-19. Comal County Public Health is offering COVID-19 vaccine to children five years and older. Learn more about the Comal County Vaccination Plan.

Widespread vaccination for COVID-19 is a critical tool to best protect everyone, especially those at highest risk, from severe illness and death. People who are fully vaccinated can safely resume many activities that they did prior to the pandemic. BOOSTERS
Some COVID-19 Vaccine Recipients Can Get Booster Shots
- People 65 years and older, 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions, or 18 years and older who live in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot.
- People 18 years and older should receive a booster shot at least 2 months after receiving their Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.
