4th Annual 2020 Dos Rios Watershed Clean-up Challenge

The Dos Rios Watershed Cleanup Challenge has concluded and was a great success. For this year's event, which ran throughout the month of October, participants chose their own cleanup locations and helped to collect as much litter as possible within our local watersheds. “We believe this years’ Dos Rios Watershed Cleanup event was a huge success in helping to minimize the amount of litter that is found within our local watersheds and waterways. There was an extraordinary level of participation in the event from individuals, families and civic organizations, all who helped to preserve and protect our local rivers and creeks.” said New Braunfels Watershed Coordinator Phillip Quast.

Civic Group Collecting the Most Litter: The New Braunfels Jaycees

Winner of the Council District Challenge: District 3
Total number of participants: 240
Total estimated weight of litter collected: 2,400 lbs.!
Total estimated weight of recyclables collected: 260 lbs.
Thanks to all those who participated in this years’ Dos Rios Watershed Cleanup event. All participants who report their cleanup efforts through the Dos Rios Reporting Form are eligible for a gift provided by the City. The City will be reaching out to participants prior to the end of the year to claim their prize.
Since 2017, approximately 690 volunteers have helped collect over 6,400 pounds of litter in and around our local rivers and creeks as part of the Dos Rios Watershed Cleanup event.

As a way to further our efforts to preserve the integrity of our watersheds, the City of New Braunfels has implemented an Adopt-A-Spot Clean-Up program to raise public awareness and educate citizens about the importance of keeping our water resources clean and to generate community involvement in activities that promote a healthy riparian ecosystem.
