The Code Enforcement Department is responsible for investigating and processing general nuisance violations, applicable statutory provisions, and specific ordinance violations, including, but not limited to:
- Sign violations
- Junk and abandoned vehicle violations
- Tall Grass and weed control violations
- General ordinance and statutory health and safety enforcement
- Graffiti Abatement
Deed Restrictions
Code Enforcement Officers do not enforce deed restrictions or covenants. These are civil processes and not enforceable by the City unless they correspond with a City ordinance. The City does not enforce ordinances outside of the City limits.

Prohibited Signs:
Off-premise and on-premise signs prohibited in the new ordinance include: portable signs, roof signs, signs affixed to a tree or utility pole, banners attached to the ground, bandit signs (signs in the right-of-way), stake signs, roof signs in the downtown area, and billboards. See Section 106-10 for other prohibited signs.
Signs cannot be placed in street right-of-way at any time. On-premise signs may not overhang into right-of-way or impede the view of traffic. Signs may be picked up by the City if found to be in the right-of-way.
