NOTICE - Swimming lessons & Junior Lifeguard Camps are still in progress for those who are pre-registered.  Tell the Rangers at the barricades if you are on the program registration list.

Swimming Lessons

All classes are held Tuesday - Friday.
Class weather make-ups are held on Mondays.
(Six of eight lessons guaranteed if bad weather prevails.)
Fees are $45 for residents and non-residents.

Parent Orientation will be held the Monday before each session begins.  Orientation starts at 5:30pm at the Landa Haus located directly next door to the Aquatic Complex.  Orientation is not mandatory, however, it is strongly encouraged that parents/guardians attend as valuable information will be given.  Come meet the Swim Instructors and learn important information about our program!  


Registration begins February 1st - register early - many popular times and age groups fill quickly!
Register via phone at 830-221-4350, 830-221-4370 or in person at the Parks Office or Landa Rec. Center.

Water Babies (6 mo-2y)
Class ratio 1:15, with fifteen max. per class
Class length: 30 minutes
Adult must be in the water with the child.

Preschool (3-5y)
Class ratio 1:6, with six max. per class
Class length: 30 minutes
Adults may be in the water with the child.

Level 1 (5-13y)
Class ratio 1:10, with ten max. per class
Class length: 45 minutes

Level 2 (5-13y)
Class ratio 1:10, with ten max. per class
Class length: 45 minutes

Level 3 (5-13y)
Class ratio 1:10, with ten max. per class
Class length: 45 minutes

Level 4 (5-13y)
Class ratio 1:12, with ten max. per class
Class length: 45 minutes

Level 5 (5-13y)
Class ratio 1:12, with ten max. per class
Class length: 45 minutes

Adult (14+)
Class ratio 1:10, with ten max. per class

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Parent & Child
Helps young children (6 months - 5 years) become comfortable in and around the water so they are ready to learn how to swim. All Parent and Child classes are 30 minutes.


Level One
Introduction to water skills. This class is for those children that are ready to be in the pool without a parent or guardian. All Level One classes are 30 minutes.


Level Two
Fundamental Aquatic Skills - for those who can fully submerge face, blow bubbles, and do assisted floats. All Level Two classes are 30 minutes.


Level Three
Stroke Development - for those swimmers who can fully submerge their head, flutter kick on their back and front with arm action, and can float on own. All Level Three classes are 30 minutes.


Level Four
Stroke Improvement - for those who have coordinated front and back crawls with rotary breathing, know how to butterfly kick and basic butterfly body motion. All Level Four classes are 45 minutes


Level Five
Stroke Refinement - for those who have coordinated front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, butterfly, and elementary back stroke. All Level Five classes are 45 minutes.
