The Citizens Police Academy is a series of weekly sessions covering such topics as:
- History of the New Braunfels Police Department
- Hiring practices
- Training
- K-9 Division
- Criminal Investigation Division
- 9-1-1 Dispatch Center
- Other aspects of the Department
Also discussed are things that police officers do while on patrol, working a disturbance, and other job-related functions and the reasons why.
All classes are taught by law enforcement personnel, both civilian and officers.
Besides the classroom instruction you will also receive hands on instruction including practical problems, firearms participation and what has been termed as the best of all, the ride-a-long, where you ride with an officer while on actual patrol duties.
