Municipal Court Offers Night Court

The Great Texas Warrant Roundup is underway with more than 300 law enforcement agencies statewide acting in a concentrated effort to resolve outstanding warrants and unpaid traffic and non-traffic violations. The New Braunfels Municipal Court is

providing an opportunity for all individuals with outstanding warrants to responsibly clear their cases without potentially being arrested.

“We want to help people avoid arrest and additional fees. People who appear at the Municipal Court to take care of their outstanding warrants and tickets will not get arrested,” says Warrant Officer Larry Hildebrand.

To accommodate individuals with unresolved warrants, New Braunfels Municipal Court will offer extended hours on Tuesday, March 5th and Thursday, March 28th, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Individuals with outstanding warrants may receive notification by mail and/or visits from New Braunfels Police Officers. Defendants are encouraged to call the court and schedule a court appearance during this time, but walk-ins will also be accepted.

Under Texas Law, individuals that appear before a court and make a good faith effort to resolve their outstanding Class C warrants are afforded safe harbor and not subject to arrest. Additionally, if a judgment is rendered against an individual who is unable to pay the judgment, the individual may request a judge to assess their ability to pay and offer alternative means to satisfy the judgment.

“As this is a statewide effort, we strongly encourage individuals who suspect that they have an outstanding case or warrant with ANY court in the state to contact that court to be certain their case is closed, whether they receive a reminder notice of it or not” said Robin Shellard, Court Administrator.

People who believe they may have an outstanding warrant can view their case status and make payment in full at or call 830-221-4180. New Braunfels Municipal Court is normally open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
