National Parks & Recreation Month

July is National Parks and Recreation Month and thousands of individuals across the country will celebrate Parks and Recreation. This year’s theme is “OUT is IN,” challenging everyone to get out and visit their community parks during the month of July.

The City of New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) is celebrating by offering buy one, get one free admission for the entire month of July on the following days and attractions:
• Mondays, Landa Park Paddle Boats
• Tuesdays, Landa Park Miniature Golf
• Wednesdays, Landa Park Aquatic Complex

Additionally, PARD is hosting an outdoor digital photo challenge - a twenty day challenge to get outdoors and capture photos in ten select parks, and then upload them to Facebook or Instagram using hashtag #outisinNB. Information on the ‘Out is In’ Outdoor Challenge Photo Scavenger Hunt is available at http://bit.ly/outisin or by visiting the Parks and Recreation Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NBPARKS.

Participants who complete the 2014 “Out is In” Outdoor Challenge will have one of their photos published in an upcoming “The Fun Things in Life” recreation program guide.

“This July we are encouraging the community to partake in outdoor activities and connect with nature,” said Kelsey Heiden, Parks and Recreation Marketing Coordinator. “It is a great time to enjoy the local parks and playgrounds and make going outdoors part of your daily routine.”
