The City of New Braunfels will host a Farmers’ Market on Friday, June 27th at the Westside Community Center from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Mobile Food Pantry. In an effort to make fresh, nutritious food available to everyone...
... the City is partnering with the San Antonio Food Bank and local farmers to provide this service free of charge to qualified seniors and families in need through the Seniors Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program and the WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program. Fresh, locally grown produce will also be available for purchase by the general community.
“Farmers’ Markets are good for our health, good for our community and good for our economy,” said Westside Outreach Coordinator, Michele Valadez. “We’re fortunate that this year’s Farmers’ Market will always fall on the last Friday of the summer months of June, July and August, so people will have an easier time planning for this healthy event.”
Fresh local food will be available for purchase and $20 vouchers will be provided by SAFB to low income seniors and families that currently receive WIC assistance. Vouchers will be provided on a first come, first served basis and quantities are limited. The July Farmers’ Market will take place on Friday, July 25th. The last Farmers’ Market of the summer at the Westside will be August 29th.
