In recognition of Love My Library Month this past February, Canyon High School art students undertook a unique project: creating art pieces that incorporated actual books. Work was donated from students in Art I, Drawing II and III, and Printmaking I
classes taught by Joy Hill, Elise Galperin, and Mirriam Blackwell. On Tuesday, April 23, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., those students’ works will be on display in an Art Show and Reception at the New Braunfels Public Library, located at 700 E. Common Street.
“We were so excited to hear that the students wanted to donate their work to benefit the Library,” said Youth Services Librarian Courtney Meissner. “The quality and variety of work they produced will make for an incredible show and we’re happy to be able to provide a showcase for such talent.”
Thirty pieces were selected for display, while the entire collection — totaling more than 200 pieces — will be available to look through in a digital catalog. All the works will be available for purchase, and all proceeds generated from artwork sales will go to the Friends of the New Braunfels Public Library.
