The first public hearing to create Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Number Two was held on November 25, 2019. The council unanimously approved the first reading. The second and final reading was unanimously approved at the December 9, 2019 council meeting.
The zone is located in and around the area traditionally known as “Milltown” and includes some or all properties adjacent to McKenna Avenue, Oasis Street, Wright Avenue, Porter Street and Rusk Avenue, including the Faust Street Bridge and Beaty Street. All residents and property owners within the proposed zone and all other persons are hereby invited to appear in person to speak for or against the creation of the zone, its boundaries, the benefits to the city and property in the proposed zone, or the concept of tax increment financing in general.
