Citizens of New Braunfels enjoy a higher than average quality of life, due in part to our Parks & Recreation opportunities. This bond proposal includes park enhancements, phase one of a 150+ acre sports complex, and a much-needed riverbank stabilization.
Several parks will benefit from the allocation of funding for the installation of all ability enhancements. These additions make our parks more welcoming and inclusive for visitors of all abilities. Furthermore, City Staff has worked with a national grant program. We're happy to announce that the City will receive a 1:1 fund match, doubling the $500,000 approved by voters.
This complex, located at the intersection of Klein Rd and FM 1044, will span over 150 acres and include: Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Concessions, Restrooms, Shading, and Parking. The rendering below includes all three phases of the project. Phase one totals $25,784,920 with $15,000,000 of that amount coming via the 4B Board.
New Braunfels is home to two beautiful rivers. One of them, the Guadalupe, borders the Comal Cemetery. Numerous high water events have caused riverbank erosion and put grave sites in jeopardy. In all, over 50+ feet will be mechanically stabilized at a cost of $5,262,500.
